It’s the last day of the year..

While I think what to prepare for this special day, I thought to checkout this American restaurant I have found in town – The Zodiac (https://www.facebook.com/TheZodiacBaner)

My young sister is in town and she was too excited to try something new. So we went to this awesome place. The ambiance is not so good but the food… its yumm…

We ordered Swiss sliders, Mocha Cheese Cake, Mini Chocolate cupcake, Red Velvet cupcake and their Christmas special Turkey Burger. You can guess how good these were by the photos I have clicked ignoring my sister’s I-will-kill-you-if-you-take-any-longer expressions. πŸ˜›

LAYERED BUTTERSCOTCH MOUSSE (or turn it into any flavor you like)

Hello again fellas!πŸ‘‹

So let’s start with dessert. I was born with a sweet tooth. I like to have sweet whenever I am stressed or if there is some occasion or may be when we have a guest, actually I like it after dinner also…mmm…and sometimes I make something sweet for breakfast.😁

See, this is why I can’t have fancy dessert always. So I am sharing one of my recipes that looksΒ pretty but it is not too difficult. I will give you some alternatives; you can go with whichever is comfortable for you.:)

Here we go.

METHOD

Cover the base of the glass with crushed biscuits, press lightly and keep in the refrigerator for chilling.

Sponge (if you have the patience to make your own;))

  1. Beat eggs and sugar till soft peaks are formed.
  2. Add vanilla essence.
  3. Fold in sieved flour, baking soda and cocoa powder.
  4. Spread the batter into a 9” pan making a thinner layer than usual and baked for 15mins in a preheated oven at 180Β°
  5. De-mould and cut into desired shapes.

Alternative- Cut the bread into desired shape and soak into chocolate syrup. Do not make it too moist.

Mousse

  1. Whip the cream with sugar.
  2. Fold in butterscotch chips or any other flavoring.

Alternative- Add cream to the custard and whip to make it light.

Layering

  1. Take the chilled glasses, add a layer of mousse or ice cream, and then add the sponge.
  2. Pour some chocolate syrup if you are using sponge, layer with mousse.
  3. Soften 1 tbsp of jam with some water and apply it to the sides of the glass.
  4. Add desired layers of sponge and mousse.
  5. Garnish with nuts, chocolate syrup or wafers.
  6. And you are done. Enjoy it chilled, click a pic and share.:D

Hello Guys!
I have some questions for you. Do you love to eat?Β  Do you face some challenges while making a new recipe?Β  Do you want your food to look awesome and to be tasty without putting too much effort?Β  Or do you want your food to be a li’l healthier than those we buy?

If any of the answers is yes then welcome to my blog ‘The Greedy Foodie’. So let me tell you a bit about me. I’m Ipsita Nayak currently staying in Pune with my mom and dad. Like all of our mothers, mine is also a great cook. But unlike many of us, I have adopted some really useful tricks from her ;). I will share some of those here with you. We shift from one city to another in every 3-4 years, thanks to my father who has dedicated all his life to a bank πŸ™Œ. It has given me a wide exposure to different Indian cuisines, few calories and some huge restaurant bills 😜.
Let me confess something, though I have a degree in Hotel Management and 18 months of head-banging job in a fast food industry, I was never interested in too much of technicalities. I cook for fun and to let go some of the everyone-has-these-kinds-of-headaching stress. I just make it easy because I am lazy 😁. All of you must have read this quote by Bill Gates

“I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it. “

(OH! I just wish he knew how lazy I’m.)
Anyway, about my blog, I’m writing this blog because I know many busy, lazy and confused people out there who want to eat tasty, pretty and at times just a little healthy food. My younger sister is definitely one of them. This might make their life tolerable. And I wish to find some hardcore foodies like me who do not eat to live, instead they live to eat, travel to try different cuisines and just keep looking for every new restaurant in town. Wait! Is that too much? But that is what a proud foodie is. πŸ˜€
Please share your tricks and experience with food in here and contribute in making my life better. ;). Let the journey of food begin in this world of foodies…
